WHAT CAN YOU & OTHER CAREGIVERS DO TO PROTECT YOUR BABY?
Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) is the unexplained death of a baby younger than 1 year old. It occurs suddenly and unexpectedly. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS is one type of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID). SIDS and SUID often happen when your baby is sleeping, but can also happen when your baby is awake in their sleeping area. Infant sleep-related death is the leading cause of death in infants before 1 year old.
Following safer-sleep tips reviewed by trusted experts will help your baby sleep safer and reduce your baby's risk of SIDS or SUID and other sleep-related life threatening situations.
BLACK Wellness and Prosperity Center (BWPC) created the Safer Sleep training to help you know more about what you and other caretakers can do to protect your baby.
This training, including the framework, images, core messaging, and content was developed over the course of one year by Black parents and caregivers, and was reviewed by trusted experts.
This training is free of charge and available for participants enrolled in our programs.
