The BLACK Mobile Health Unit is a community health and training vehicle designed to serve Black birthing persons, babies, and doulas. The unit is equipped to: Train doulas with state of the art technology Provide direct community care for Black women and babies in the neighborhood.
HEALTH POP-UPS FOR BLACK WOMEN & BABIES
Our Mobile Unit is out in the community to host regular pop-ups for Black families. We provide a variety of support, including health education, screenings, COVID-19 testing, lactation consultations, safe sleep education, and more!
TEACHING DOULAS IN A DELIVERY ROOM-LIKE SPACE
The inside of the BLACK Mobile Unit models an exam room to teach doulas in a realistic setting. Doula candidates will be able to practice their skills through being exposed to hospital situations, including birth scenarios, delivery room equipment, and care concepts.
OLIVIA - THE BLACK BIRTHING SIMULATOR
Olivia "Liv," a state-of-the art birthing simulator, provides community and doulas-in- training with life-like experiences. Liv helps visualize pregnancy stages, birth, and body changes. Liv helps doulas practice necessary skills including comforting measures, practice birth positions, pain relief, advocacy skills, emotional support, caring for baby and more.
